Kurdish
This features one of my favourite designs, the Harshang pattern and it also shows a common Kurdish border known as Zanbaqi. As one might expect on a Kurdish rug the colours are wonderful with several shades of red, blue and green set off by a soft yellow. I would place this is north Persia based on it’s single weft, it could be called Garrus but I am by no means certain of this attribution. It is a sturdy rug with a solid foundation and fairly coarse knotting. I simply love the tones on this piece especially the two reds when they are set next to each other.
