Fine Kurdish Rug
This lovely Persian village rug has a fine weave, very soft wool and wonderful dyes. Woven on a cotton foundation, it probably comes from the Senneh region in West Persia. The pretty pink medallion appears to be floating a midnight blue field which is filled with linked botehs and other floral ornaments. Note the striking spandrels which match the central medallion. The field is framed by several borders, all very well drawn. This rug draws on the Kurdish tribal weaving tradition, which, combined with great craftsmanship has resulted in a very beautiful rug. Cherished through the generations, it has survived in excellent condition. Professionally cleaned, the colours are fresh and glowing.
