Faded Orange Berber Rug with Blue Geometric Design 245x315cm
A Rare Width for an Orange Berber Rug
Berber rugs were traditionally woven on narrow looms in village homes, so most are long and slim. Finding one 245cm wide is very unusual, and finding one in a midcentury piece is rarer still.
At 245 x 315cm, this Faded Orange Berber rug fills a room in a way most Berber rugs can’t. It can sit under a sofa and a pair of armchairs to frame a whole seating area, hold a dining table for six to eight with space for the chairs, or stretch beyond both sides of a king-size bed. If you have been looking for an authentic Berber rug for a large room, this is the size that is hardest to find.
Handwoven Heritage
Berber weaving is a skill passed down through generations of Moroccan women, with each weaver bringing her own choices of pattern and colour to the loom. This rug was hand-knotted in the midcentury period, knot by knot, using natural wool. No two rugs made this way are ever the same.
Its clean geometric design shows the confident hand of the weaver. Decades on, the lines remain crisp and the pattern feels as fresh and graphic as a modern design.
